On Wednesday 17 Nov 2010, the Phoenix concert theater blew me away. That night iVardensphere, Aesthetic Perfection and Combichrist rocked the night. The visuals were amazing, and I really had a hard time narrowing my selection to the few that photos that I put up.
Here’s a sampling of my favorite pictures.
I knew that The Phoenix has strict rules about photography, so I asked and got a photo pass. Thanks Sophia.
Being a larger venue then I’m used to, I rented a lens with a little more reach then I had in my collection, to get the closeups. $25 well spent for the Canon 135 f2.0 L from henrys. The images it produced are fantastic.
I used the flash when I could, (bounced) but being a large venue with 90% of the walls/ceiling being black, I doubt little light got bounced. I did point the flash a little forward for some shots, but I much prefer the ambient, non direct lighting.I do know that the AF assist worked it’s magic, as the large majority of the images were in focus.
All ambient light shots were taken at very wide apertures of f/1.4 to f/2.0, at 1/100-1/200 shutter speeds, and the flash shots were taken at f/2.8 to f/4.0.
Most shots were taken at ISO 1600. Only a few needed ISO3200.
Equipment used was a Canon 40D, Canon 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 135 f2 and a Sigma EF-500 DG super flash.
